Absolutely gorgeous antique ball jug pitcher, expertly hand painted with corn in rich shades of browns and yellows. It is free of chips, cracks, crazing, or damage of any kind, and stands 6 1/4" tall and 7" from tip of spout to opposite side. Excellent form. There is an artist signature near the spout that we cannot decipher.
This jug is marked with the Vienna, Austria mark as pictured. This mark was used between 1890 - 1908 by various importers who purchased the blanks from the Vienna porcelain factory and then used Limoges artist's to decorate the pieces. Since the country of origin was required to be placed on porcelain in 1891, we believe this piece dates to the period between 1891 - 1900 and was most likely from the fine Limoges porcelain firm of Bawo & Dotter, Elite Works.
