A lovely old bonbon or candy dish hand painted with a grapes motif and adorned with a gold split handle--so pretty. This piece measures 6" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It was painted by E. Patterson and is dated June, 1923 on the reverse along with the Made in Bavaria mark. China painting was the rage in the early 1900s, and many companies from Limoges, France as well as Bavaria hired women to paint pieces for them, then return them to the factory for finishing. This was an excellent way for women to earn money when working outside the home was not an option for many.
