A First Edition book by Robert W. Service "The Spell of the Yukon and Other Verses" published in 1907, Barse & Hopkins. Robert Service is known for his wonderful poems about the Yukon Territory, and this book has them all including our favorites, "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "The Cremation of Sam McGee". Interestingly, the inside cover has a bookplate from the War Service Library, indicating that this book was one of those selected during World War I: "Books are provided by the people of the United States through the American Library Association for the use of the Soldiers and Sailors." The inside back cover has the original "sign out" card for the War Service Library.
The book measures 7 5/8" x 5 1/8". It's in overall good condition with some wear to the cloth covered boards. The pages have yellowed with age and some have foxing. The spine is good but a bit separated within a some pages. We're not book experts, so please feel free to email us if you have questions or need additional photos.
