Beautiful and rare floorlamp with cast bronze sculptures of Mercury and Nude girls.
This impressive and very well made, antique floor lamp dates from about 1910-1920. This bronze work of art has a beautiful patina and it works perfectly. All our lamps are professionally wired for use in the USA also. On the beautiful tri-pod base there are three bronze faces of the god Mercury (the god of commerce in Greek and Roman mythology) and also three quality cast, bronze sculptures of nude and kneeling young girls. This highly symbolic and impressive floorlamp comes with a leather/hide shade that gives a warm light for creating a perfect ambiance…..wherever you may choose to place it. Nowadays, most people have no idea how much time, skill and effort it has taken to make such a lasting work of art. The more you do understand it, the more you will enjoy this rare piece….
The shade of the lamp are made of rawhide. It is a hide/animal skin that has not been exposed to tanning which is why it is much lighter in color than leather. Rawhide is primarily made from the skin of buffalo, deer, elk and cattle and it is hardened/dried. This shade is hardened/dried also and with the light switched on they radiate a warm light and the shade themselve too get a beautiful look and feel.
Will be professionally wired for to use in the US.
