Miniature Creamware Mochaware Mustard Pot
Slip Decorated Rouletted Bubble
Staffordshire England 1825
This is a brilliant early mustard pot or miniature child size barrel shaped mug from mid-19th century, slip decorated in a brown black and tan color range. Decorated with a multi-step mochaware motif involving engine turned rouletted bands of circles or bubbles that are then dipped and filled, all against a creamware ground. The cup is unmarked.
The pot is in great condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Minor firing imperfections on the foot rim and a glaze graze on the handle. A joy to hold, this tiny pocket sized work of art.
