Pair of Flow Blue Toy Plates

This rare pair of miniature toy plates was originally part of an early childs or doll house dinner service.
The plates measure just 3-1/2 inches across with a panel rim and footless bottom. This is a medium size made in English toy wares. The plates are lavishly decorated with dark flow blue with a kaleidoscope in the center encircled with a bold Grecian Key and checker board border motif finished with blue ponding of pearlware. The pair dates to around 1820 and have no maker's mark. Attributed to Charles Meigh in Staffordshire region of England. The set was finely potted with great attention to detail.
The plates are in overall good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Glaze pooling and other typical minor imperfections original to the making...stilt marks, glaze skips, kiln dust, and the like. These flow blue miniature pieces are getting to be so hard to find. This little gem is a pocket size work of art, a great example to add to your flow blue or childs miniature tableware collection. Offered as is, as shown.
