Early Tin Lithograph Tray
This large platter tray was originally part of a child's or doll's toy tea set. It is lithographed in a multi color motif, with rich red white and blue over copper and a rich patina. Measuring 9 1/8 " long x 6 3/8 " wide with a rolled lip to the rim.
The tray or small platter is decorated with children and squirrels with their favorite pastimes. The winsome characters are surrounded by flowers and a Nouveau stylized border. The piece is unmarked and based on the style of dress, we would date the set to the early 20th century. The platter tray is in good condition with wear and scratching and very light rusting spots consistent with age per photos. A delightful example of early tiny litho toys and dollhouse tea sets, with irresistible themes of squirrels with their nuts and children with their toys.
