This is a fabulous child’s teapot with a finial of a mouse drinking tea. The piece was handmade David Cleverly at the Haytown Pottery in Devon, United Kingdom where he specializes in ceramic creatures.
Cleverly began making pottery at Haytown in Devon. He first made a range of brown domestic earthenware with modelled sprigging, most notably mice. He began making other historical and mythological characters and creatures in 1992. This teapot is one of his earlier mice.
The teapot has no maker’s mark. It is in first quality unused condition with no chips cracks or repairs. A popular collectible line of British studio art pottery. The teapot is a perfect complement to any collection of early children's wares and mouse collectables.
