Childs Royal Bayreuth Toy Porcelain Tea Set
Tettau Germany c1900
This is a scarce German porcelain childs tea set in its original box dating to 1900. Exquisitely molded details and scalloped rims, the set is hand decorated with finely executed gold outlining of vines tipped with gold berries, with a few additional random blue berries. The set comprises:
· Lidded teapot, 2-3/4 inches tall (repaired finail, handle reattached with early rivets)
· Lidded sugar
· Creamer, 2-3/4 inches tall
· 6 cups, 1-3/4 inches tall (1 cracked), and
· 6 saucers, 3-1/4 inches in diameter.
The set is marked with a T and standing lion, signifying the Royal Bayreuth factory at Tettau Germany dating to the period of 1891-1900. The box is the original showcase display sold with this fine miniature tea set. The underside of the box bears a stamp for Hanleys at Regent Street in London, the retailer who sold the original set.
The set is in great condition as described in detail above. The box is structurally sound with signs of surface wear. This rare little porcelain set was made for a very fine doll collection. Offered and sold as is.
