Ben Franklin’s Proverb ~ Make Hay While Sun Shines ~ 1840

EARLY CHILDS PROVERB PLATE

FRANKLIN'S PROVERBS

MAKE HAY

J. & G. MEAKIN POTTERIES ~ Staffordshire England ~ c. 1840

This small 5 3/8 " plate has a crisp image transfer printed in luscious jet black with great four color polychrome hand painting, clobbering in shades of red, golden yellow, green and cobalt blue. A band of green surrounds the impressed wheat and flower border.

The central transfer shows all the fine detail and is hand painted in vivid colors. The crisp very early transfer is of a Franklin's Maxims with a scene of a nineteenth century hay field and wagon.
