Brown Miniature Staffordshire Mug ~ Children Watering 1830

EARLY STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFERWARE MUG

Staffordshire England c 1830

This is whimsical little transferware mug, circa 1830. This diminutive piece stands 1 5/8 " tall x 1 7/8 " wide with an applied loop handle. The mug is very light weight and beautifully potted with a pearlware glaze.

It is transfer printed in brown over white and shows a young boy and girl, vessels of water and flowers along the miniature mug. The condition of this exceptional mug is very good, a slice off the inside rim and a couple of spots of excess glaze. Early mugs of this quality, condition and pattern are quite scarce and highly sought after.
