FRAMED EARLY ORIGINAL GAME BOARD OUIJA BOARD ~ SPIRIT BOARD PARKER BROTHERS, Inc
Salem, MA 1883 - 1963
USA

This original game board is framed in a new black matte frame measuring 19 1/2 inches x 13 5/8inches with a protective plexiglass covering. The game board is filled with early graphics, the sun and the moon and spirits. A Ouija board also known as a spirit board or talking board, is a flat board marked with letters, numbers, and other symbols, supposedly used to communicate with any spirits. The fingers of the séance participants are placed on the planchette, which then moves about the board to spell out words or become physically manifest. Mainstream Christian religions and some occultists have associated use of the Ouija board with the threat of demonic possession and some have cautioned their followers not to use Ouija boards.

One of the first mentions of the automatic writing method used in the Ouija board is found in China around 1100 BC, and it is first recorded in historical documents of the Song Dynasty. Similar methods of mediumistic spirit writing have been widely practiced in Ancient India, Greece, Rome and medieval Europe.

Very good condition as shown in the photos. Colors are still very bright. Displays beautifully, a work of classic lithographed mid 20th century art. Ready to hang on the wall.
