EARLY CREAMWARE PLATE
Staffordshire, England ~ c. 1830
This is an early transferware plate made of a soft paste earthenware. The plate measures 6 1/8 ” in diameter. It is crisply transfer printed in brown with the blue puddling of pearlware glaze. The scalloped rim's border is impressed with flowers and leaves. Hand clobbered in shades of burnt umber, blue and dark green.
The central image transfer in lovely chocolate brown is crisp and well defined showing a garland of vining flowers surrounding:

The plate is in good condition with some backside rim chipping and an internal spider hairline.
