Antique Bronze Miniature Figural Animal
RELAXED CAT PREENING
Original Cold Paint 19th Century
This relaxed cat figure measures 3 7/8" long and 1 3/4" tall to the top of the cat’s upright ears and the end of the elongated tail. He is reclining while preening himself. In his cold painted state, he was part of a series of feline cat and kitten figurines from a highly detailed doll sized play set. Examined through a powerful magnifier loupe, the sheer detail squeezed into this uniquely decorated model, from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century is a tribute to the skills of the Austrian modelers and to the imagination of their painters. His original paint is taupe grey against the natural patina bronze. The figurine remains in great condition, right down to her green eyes, pink nose and mouth, perked ears and protruding whiskers, with paint wear consistent with age as shown in the detailed photos.
A delightful example of early made bronze toys for childs play and dollhouse accessories, with an irresistible theme of housepets and animals and a nice patina.
