Antique Miniature Figural Animal
HAPPY KITTEN CAT SITTING UP
Original Cold Paint 19th Century
This tiny cat figure measures just 1 1/4" tall to the top of the cat’s upright ears with a long curvy tail. In her cold painted state she was part of a series of feline cat and kitten figurines from a highly detailed doll sized play set. Examined through a powerful magnifier loupe, the sheer detail squeezed into this uniquely decorated model, from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century is a tribute to the skills of the Austrian modelers and to the imagination of their painters. Her original paint is brownish tan with a grey overcoat. The kitten has golden eye a red nose pink tongue off white tummy and bold stripes on her tiny body. This little figurine remains in great condition, right down to her perked ears and protruding whiskers, with paint wear consistent with age as shown in the detailed photos.
A delightful example of early made bronze toys for childs play and dollhouse accessories, with an irresistible theme of house pets and domestic animals.
