Childs Transfer Printed Miniature Doll Dinner Set
Staffordshire England c. 1850
This is a scarce partial miniature transferware set circa 1850, originally part of a complete toy dollhouse dinner service.
The set comprises: • 12 dinner plates, 3 3/4" in diameter (10 perfect, 2 cracked/reglued) • 6 soup plates, 3 1/2" in diameter • 12 side plates, 2 1/2" in diameter (10 perfect, 2 with hairlines) • 6 pie plates, 2 1/8” in diameter.
Well potted, to the standards usually only seen in full-size Staffordshire table wares, transfer printed in earthy forest green on a white ironstone blank. The plates are unmarked. The pattern name and exact maker is unknown although is has its originas in the Staffordshire region of England from 1840-1860.
The set is in great condition as described above. No other chips cracks or repairs. Minor typical manufacturing imperfections from Victorian potteries. Children's transferware of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after. Offered as is.
Christmas is just around the corner. This set would be a perfect addition to any serious collection of early miniature table and tea wares.
