FRAMED EARLY ORIGINAL GAME BOARD
INDIA ~ AN ORIENTAL GAME
This original antique game board is framed in a new black matte frame measuring a 17 inches x 17 1/4 inches with a protective plexiglass covering. The game board is filled with early graphics and bright colors. The players travel around the game board to the center in order to win the game. Great early game for display.
The parcheesi-style board with a thatched hut and palm trees in a medallion in the center labeled "HOME" and star decorations in the four corners. Created in India perhaps as early as 500 AD, the board game is subtitled Royal Game of India because royalty played by using servants of the royal household adorned in colored-costumes as pieces on large outdoor boards.
Very good condition as shown in the photos. Colors are still very bright. Displays beautifully, a work of classic lithographed late 19th century art.
