VERY EARLY CHILDS TIN ABC RATTLE
FOR A GOOD CHILD
This is a fabulous very old tin rattle and whistle made during the mid 1800's, civil war era, these were a common rattle and whistle toy.
Each side of the rattle is embellished with the American Eagle with the words " For A Good Child". The circumference of the rattle has the letters of the alphabet. The rattle still rings well with the original seeds or pellets inside. A remarkable piece of American history !
This example has survived in pretty good condition with only a bit of crimping on the handle. The whistle is all there but I cannot get it to play a tune.
