This 7 1/4 inch alphabet plate has a crisp image transfer printed in rich chocolate brown with under the glaze hand painting and with a pearlware glaze.
This wonderful plate is out of the aesthetic period symbolizes the Victorians love of nature. The entire alphabet is applied on this charming plate as it is mixed with flowers, flag and geometric designs. Perched upon a branch is a yellow bird on her nest with a blue bird standing guard.
Condition is EXCELLENT. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. Normal stilt marks and a glaze slip to the center. Plates like these were given as gifts to children on special occasions and were used as educational tools, as well.
