VERY EARLY CHILDS HAND PAINTED & TRANSFERWARE PLATE
Northern England ~ c. 1820
This fabulous child's earthenware antique plate measures 6 3/8 " in diameter and is decorated along the border in red, green and cobalt blue over an impressed border of dogwood type flowers, blooming tulips and palmated foliage. All this is encased in two bright green bands. The well of the plate has a black ttransfer of a man fishing along a river with a castle in the background, all finished with a lush pearlware glaze.
Condition is EXCELLENT. Clean shiny and bright, appears to have never been used. Light weight and beautifully potted. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs. Very light paint loss in one spot to the outer edge of the rim.
