Stunning 19th century hand painted porcelain plaque depicting two young lovers. It was painted in 1896 by Florence McGillivray. I was lucky to find a clipping from the newspaper shedding more light on who Florence was taped onto the back of the plaque. She had studied in Paris and is clearly an accomplished artist. The subject is so charming with a shy looking blonde maiden being wooed by her suitor over the garden wall. The colors are soft purples and greens. The plaque is 9 1/2” x 7” and in wonderful condition. Clearly signed on the bottom right. Easily framed up or it stands nicely in an easel.
