Fantastic antique watercolour portrait of a wealthy lady hand painted in fine detail with colors still bright. As an added bonus it is framed beautifully. This is an antique 19th century large miniature portrait depicting Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) , wearing a white gown with gold embellishments. She has a fan in her hand. She looks to be about 18 with long flowing chestnut hair studded with flowers. Her face is serene with the hint of a smile. The portrait is unsigned, but the artist is clearly very very skilled, using tiny minute brushstrokes. The portrait is set under glass in a velvet lined shadow frame with an ornate inner gilt frame decorated with a border of scrolls and flowerettes. The backing is of old brocaded material with an easel for table top display but is also wired for hanging on the wall. The portrait measures about 5" in width and about 6 1/2” in height. The rich mahogany frame, measures 11" in height and 9 1/2" in width. In excellent condition, I can see a few small scratches on the front glass and the back brocade shows some wear but the watercolour itself is fantastic! Layaway is available.
