Lovely, large, early 19th Century (1810-1830) Chinese reverse painting on glass from a fine local estate. The painting is in its original black and gold Chinese Chippendale, made in China for the English market, frame which measures 21" in height by 28 1/4" in length. It depicts an interior scene with six figures dressed in traditional Chinese attire. I am not sure what they are doing, possibly having an outfit designed by the tailor? Each of their faces is unique and different and their embellished clothing beautifully painted. It is in excellent antique condition, no fading, slight flaking on the frame. The family also owned a 2nd painting matching in size, it it has suffered a small crack to the bottom left glass, a long time ago. It is hard to see the damage as the painting is so detailed. The price is for the pair of artworks as I feel they should go together. Just one typically sells in the $3000 range but I am offering two.Layaway is available.
