Gorgeous English sterling silver tea and coffee service by Blanckensee and Sons. Lovely design with fat bellied cream and sugar, heavy gadrooned sides. Very handsome shell and flower design on the edges. Ebonized wood finials and handles. Beautiful gilded interior on the cream and sugar. Bun feet. Never monogrammed. Hallmarked as shown in photo. The teapot 6 1/2 inches 622 grams. Coffee pot 9 inches tall 727 grams. Sugar 5 inches 206 grams. Creamer 6 inches 318 grams. The four piece service is 66 standard ounces. In excellent condition. Rich, lustrous silver patina. Interiors of tea and coffee free of discoloration as if little used. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. Covers close flush. The only minor flaw is a small dent on the bowl of the teapot which a silversmith could easily remove. Offered for an extremely low price for this quality of construction and beautiful design. You cannot purchase silver bars at this low price, invest in sterling objects. Layaway is available.
History: Blanckensee & Sons Ltd was founded in Bristol in 1826. In September 1863 it moved to Great Charles Street, Birmingham and in September 1863 where its first mark was entered. It was SB&S for the partnership of Solomon and Abraham Solomon Blanckensee, trading as Blanckensee & Son, jewellers. Later the company also had premises in Great Hampton Street and Regent Place and in Hatton Garden.
