Miriam Haskell's glass silver gray larger baroque pearl earrings. These are in lovely vintage condition, each measuring approximately 1 1/16 inches long by 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch proud. The center of each has a large oval baroque silver-gray glass Miriam Haskell pearl which is in very good condition. The filigree classic ornate Haskell wrap-around, having individual ornate petals.
On close inspection as one views and enlarges it here. We can view all its beauty with its minor faults too, however minor you need to view them all. There are very fine scratches which can be identified on the magnified surface of the pearl; most viewers would not notice these under regular viewing conditions; more noticeable on magnification. If you scrutinize, the areas under the petals, a couple of the petals will display small areas of dark shadows. On very close inspection revealing the nacre in these areas worn directly under the tips of these petals and these areas appears as a small dark shadow (as what you are seeing is 'the black abyss' inside the glass, as there is no light inside the pearl), these are not visible when worn. I have to assume this happened at a time in the past when the filigree petals were allowed to touch / rub the surface of the glass in a small area(s); no peeling is noted now so this must have happen a long time ago but in these tiny to small areas there is no nacre, so if you see anything under the filigree, what you see is a glimpse of black abyss under the edge of a petal. You will receive the pair of new supple silicone tips for the clip backs shown at no addition charge for your added comfort.
Miriam Haskell Jewelry is beautiful, classic, stylish and distinctive; one of the most recognizable designer styles though out the decades, since the 1920's. These are just a few of the reasons her jewelry has retained and continues to increase in value; as well as, remained so collectible. The great designers that followed Frank Hess; Robert Clark, Peter Raines, Larry Vrba, Millie Petronzio and Robert Lee Morris though-out the years have managed to carry on the classic style first developed by Frank Hess with Ms. Haskell, while adding their own subtle, distinctive touches and flare. If it is not obvious, we are fans! ( N7813 )
