Wonderful scarce antique Reed & Barton's 285 western / hunting motif bar tool storage piece or home entertaining pick storage piece is becoming hard to find but this one's still available here. This silver plate antique original Reed & Barton piece measures 4 3/4 inches tall to the top of the cane with a base, 3 3/8 inches by 2 1/2 inches. The spaniel hunting dog is looking up from the toes of Hors d'oeuvres, Pick / Urn, his master's boots and is displayed as so excited we can hardly resist reaching down to ruffle it's fur! We had seen several of these in our quest, all without the cane! Only ones from old catalogue reprints let us know to keep looking... Finally success we found one for our Rubylane Collection, for you to purchase here on Rubylane. This is a beauty too. It carries a clear 1860's-1870's, "Mfd & Plated by Reed & Barton, and number, 285", on the bottom. It also has addition stenciled / scratched in numbers and letters and since we know its well over a 100 years old these could indicate an inventor number of a previous owner or that of a metal smith / silversmith perhaps. A beauty in any collection. ( N10787 )
