The platter portion has a tree and well embossing for draining the liquid away from the asparagus it holds in on its platter portion and additionally has feet on the bottom of the platter to tilt it, aiding in the drainage of any residual cooking liquid away from its contents. The platter holds a serving portion size measuring 12 1/2 by 9 inches. The lid measures 10 inches by 7 inches and is 3 1/4 inches to the top of the finale, to keep its profile low allowing its delicate contents to remain warm and so it may not be overfilled providing for beautifully presentation and damage free contents. The maker's mark indicates production between 1880 and 1896. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines and the glaze is bright creamy white and very shiny; any discoloration in the photo is shadowing and effects from the lighting. There are era typical tiny anomalies of stilt marks, a few glaze pits, dust 'bumps, glaze skips and small iron flecks. Some light age appropriate crazing is present and a remarkable 75-80% of the gilding remains.
