Art Nouveau LIMOGES, France gilded porcelain oyster plate signed by two of the famous porcelain houses of France, A. Lanternier and Tressemann & Vogt; is a heavily gilded oyster/seafood server which was produced between 1892-1907. A true beauty having an embossed white porcelain shell and starfish design, this server has an amazing 95% of its gilding remaining; the plate does exhibit some era appropriate and typical anomalies of dust 'bumps' and small glazed over base mold imperfections. The plate is signed with the A. Lanternier, A L Anchor mark and Tressemann & Vogt, T V Bell mark as pictured. There is also an impressed Limoges mark. The server has 5 wells and measures 8 inches in diameter. This A. Lanternier design was popular and used by several Limoges manufacturers; one may be viewed on page 75 of the guide, OYSTER PLATES, by Jim and Vivian Karsnitz. A beautiful collector's item that will surely become a treasure in any collection, an investment piece for your future generations and if you are attempting to acquire a service in oyster plates, the fact that this pattern was used by multiple famous LIMOGES, France porcelain houses is a plus!
