Vintage McClelland Barclay rare yellow crystal, citrine stone earrings with a stunning yellow (gold over sterling silver) setting in excellent vintage condition.

These are magnificent and could easily pass for the real thing; the finish is marvelous and brilliant. The faceted non-foil backed yellow stone, resembles the honey color citrine. McClelland collectors prize these rare spring loaded clip back earrings; these mechanisms function properly and the earrings are quite comfortable to wear. They measure 1 1/4 inches by 7/8 inch, as far as, can be determined the earrings are in all originally condition. These are vintage, displaying desirable age appropriate mellowing with possible light finish wear, nothing in my opinion which detracts from their stunning appeal (some might consider small signs of vintage use undesirable), I revel in a find like this as proof, that affirms the authenticity of the pieces, if needed they will receive a gentle professional hand cleaning, but no attempt will be made to cover up their vintage previous 80 plus beautiful years of life. A timeless addition to your accessories wardrobe which will add a striking stand-alone statement with lasting appeal!

McClelland Barclay ( born 1891, died serving his country during WWII in 1943 ) was an extremely talented painter, sculptor and illustrator who designed gorgeous jewelry produced by the famous Rice - Warner for only a very short 6 year period from 1938 - 1943. It is all of exceptional quality and scarce in the market place today due to its limited production. His signature was, McClelland Barclay, done in a distinctive font either stamped or in an elongated cartouche with rounded edges soldered onto the back of the piece; it was common on small items to cut the long cartouches and use either the first or last name portions to mark pieces of jewelry; usually when cut a couple letters of either partial name were included with the 'whole name'. Most all of his earrings were screw-backs, the standard of the time period, with only a few clip backs produced. All of his jewelry is highly collectable, commanding and retaining premiums. (L5977)
