These Miriam Haskell vintage pale yellow pâte de verre art glass earrings are elegant with large glass stones in their Russian gilt crown setting and are in excellent vintage condition. Ready to wear.
The earring's color is a fabulous Easter egg pale yellow and its color is difficult to capture in photos, due to its depth and because it changes in different lighting. Reasons that make pate de verre glass in itself sought after for its beauty are magnificent color, depth of color and ability to change color. To become a master of the creation of this form of art glass, one must apprentice for several years under a master, as it is such a difficult craft to learn, It involves adding different fineness's of specially ground glass at just the right moment in the glass' molten state to achieve the designer's desired effect; an over simplified explanation of the process, I am sure; but hopefully it helps your appreciation for this form of art glass, as a work of art in itself.
These earrings are 1 inch in diameter by 3/8 of an inch proud and have the patented ‘oh so comfy' adjustable tension clip backs, so there is no worry with them being too tight, too loose or uncomfortable; you can adjust them easily and quickly to the perfect fit! They are signed, HASKELL, on the clip backs, MIRIAM HASKELL, on the base pads and have Pat. 3176475 on the adjustable screw pad for the patent awarded to N.J. Saccoccio on Apr. 6, 1965. They appear to have been seldom worn.
...Note: The mannequin in the photos is smaller than life size. Use the numeric size in the description for actual sizing / gauging your size needed for fitting...
Miriam Haskell Jewelry is beautiful, classic, stylish and distinctive; one of the most recognizable designer styles though out the decades since the 1920's. These are just a few of the reasons her jewelry has retained and continues to increase in value; as well as, remained so collectible. Great designers that followed Frank Hess; Robert Clark, Peter Raines, Larry Vrba, Millie Petronzio and Robert Lee Morris though out the years have managed to carry on the classic style first developed by Frank Hess with Ms. Haskell, while adding their own subtle and not so subtle touches and flare. If it is not obvious, we are fans! (L3035)
