Victorian master salt spoon in sterling silver by Shreve, Crump and Low signed with the old mark of the famous Boston retailer / jeweler, S. C. & L., in the Florentine pattern and it is in especially nice, crisp condition, no damage and displaying only very light marks as from storage which would polish out if you so desired; there are no monograms. This ornate Florentine pattern is accented by dramatic natural oxidation. It's patent was assigned to John R. Wendt and Co. in the year 1870 and likely was made for Shreve, Crump and Low by them, as this was a common practice of the time. The spoon bears the, Sterling, hallmark and is marked, Patent and has the jeweler marks listed earlier. The spoon measures 3 5/8 inches long or 9.2 cm and 22 mm across the bowl with no monograms. It weighs 9.69 grams. A very fine item for display in any collection or use at your table on any occasion. (L1375)
