c.1945 Vogue Sterling pixies, WOW, learn their story and be smitten. Seems there was a 1945, kinda late entry on the scene, screwball comedy genre movie, with a star studded cast, Rosalind Russell, Lee Bowman etc., that also featured a pixie named, Nixie and our star figural was born! The presentation card you will receive with your set is a mini of one of the movie's billboards (photo included with the pictures here) also features him, as do several other billboards which can be viewed online, for the more curious.
Intros aside, the set is in excellent vintage condition. The figural pieces appear to be in original condition with no missing stones. Originally they had transparent red cold painted vests that years of handling has worn most of away. The vest color could easily be professionally restored if one so desired; I do not believe it effects their otherwise near perfect appearance or their value. The back of the earrings are unsigned, as I believe was the case with all of these cuties. Nixie, the Pixie is 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 inch wide to his topaz rhinestone base on which his feet stand, the earrings are 1 1/8 inches tall and 1/2 inch wide to their topaz rhinestone bases on which their feet stand, also; the pin back for the brooch and the clip backs for the earrings all operate correctly. Total weight for the set (including the rhinestones (as I had no way to remove them) is 37.9 grams or 1.34 oz./ 1.22 oz. troy. The Pixie is signed 'Sterlin', no room for the 'g' on the cartouche and has Vogue signed above it, which is stamped with the letters running off the cartouche at an angle (please see the photo). I can find no dents and few significant scratches to report. A wonderful find on so many different levels, just LOOK at their expressions. A truly beautiful set for any collection. (K6564)
