Limoges, France's famous listed professional Art Nouveau artist Rene hand painted this game bird plate in 1896-1905; it is signed by him and is also stamped with the marks of two of Limoges, France's famous porcelain houses; Flambeau and Laviolette and it is being offered to you for your consideration and appreciation. The plate is in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or hairlines and little, to any noticeable loss of gold in the sponged gold rim. There are no utensil marks to be seen, only the occasional tiny scuff from plate stacking are to be noted. The plate measures 8 3/4 inches in diameter and has a wonderful embossed border, depicting a beautiful game bird in flight. The back has the Laviolette whiteware mark and the Flambeau ( L.D.B. & Co ) decorator's mark ( Gaston's mark 4 ) dating the production of the plate to 1896-1905 from the famous Limoges, region of France. This wonderful plate is a hand painted work of art, worthy of any collection of art, of porcelain or of French antiques. (K5463)
