Simpson Hall Miller Co.'s rare Victorian master salt with its original cranberry glass insert is being offered for your consideration and appreciation. It is done in the Egyptian motif that had captivated the imaginations and attention of the Victorian societies of both the Americas and Europe. The piece is signed on the underside as can be seen in second and fifth photos, with the early Simpson Hall and Miller Co. stamp, a portion of the wording which makes up the ribbon running through the top portion of the stamp, is illegible; I believe it says Trade Mark and repeats Treble Plate. The salt is in excellent condition. Dating to the 1870's, not long after the company began in 1866. It measures approximately 3 inches wide across the bottom, 2 1/4 across the opening and 1 7/8 inches tall. The fitted cranberry glass insert appears original and is in perfect condition, no chips, flea bites or cracks; just the tiny typical expected air bubbles and the occasional swirl found inside antique hand blown glass. The silver plated frame is in excellent professionally re-silvered condition and will come to its new owner / caretaker with the balance of the 25 year warranty given to me on the plating, as this piece is from my private collection.
