Victorian baby sterling spoon by Gorham Silver depicting a baby or small child breaking out of an egg etched in the bowl is so detailed you may not be able to take your eyes off this spoon. There are no monograms.

The very detailed flower pattern decorating the handle is so crisp it looks as if this more than 100 year old spoon was seldom if ever used; just a soft patina and few light tiny scratches, as would have been received from it being in storage, is all we have found. The spoon is substantial too measuring 5 1/2 inches long and weighing .90 ounces or 0.82 ounces troy / 25.43 grams. The spoon is hallmarked sterling on the reverse with the early Victorian Gorham stamping of the lion, anchor and G, as well as, stamped, H1, which is Gorham's pattern number for this design. An identical spoon appears illustrated actual size on page N118 as article no 932 of the circa 1901, late Victorian, Daniel Low and Co. Gold and Silversmith's Essex and Washington Sts Salem Massachusetts Catalogue N. Whether this spoon will be part of a collection or used by a beloved new wonder to world, may it be enjoyed!

....... Please note: this is not a mini coffee spoon being used/sold as an antique baby spoon.......

Every baby should be "born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth" so to speak. We in a day of anti-bacterial everything, forget that silver is the original germ fighter and why our flatware and surgical instruments were original made with it....do you remember? Of course it is beautiful, not the answer; silver is germicidal. It does not just resist the growth of bacteria, viruses etc., in fact it actually kills them, just by being what it is, silver! Our ancestors may not have understood the science or that bacteria, viruses etc., cannot exist on silver’s molecular structure, it actual destroys bacteria, viruses etc., but they knew it worked!
