Art Nouveau 15K gold English fully hallmarked c.1901 ornate brooch with appliqued buds, leaves, and a pod busting open with natural seed pearl 'seeds' cased in a fitted era correct velvet push button box is being offered for your consideration. The exquisite brooch and its case are both in excellent condition. This beauty is a fresh arrival from across the pond and knowing that many of our collectors like their antiques just that, we took an artist brush an dusted just enough to complete the photographs, if you would like a shinier brooch, please take this one to a jeweler for a professional cleaning, the 116 year old natural seed pearls will require a little special handling, which I'd prefer leaving to them, now that is not to say this one is dirty, it is just not new. It bears the number 15 and 625 hallmarks for its 15 carat fineness of gold, as well as, the Chester, England and 1901 marks and we believe the goldsmith's mark of F.B., whom is unknown to us. The brooch measures 1 13/16 inches or 46 cm long by 3/8 inch wide; it weighs 2.78 grams or 0.10 ounces / 0.09 ounces troy. The fitted case has a silk interior liner in the top and a gold / tan velvet bottom which is raised in the center with a slit for the pin back to fit snugly in, allowing the brooch to be held for display; the exterior of the case is 'velvet' and its color is royal blue or royal purple depending on the lighting, the case is opened with a European style push button and measures 2 3/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches and is 1 1/8 inches tall. The brooch has the Victorian typical pinned pin and an opened 'C' hook clasp. A true treasure as a gift or treat for yourself and remember SPECIAL dates for her are coming up soon! (K1260)
