Castlecliff's famous cherub design with a unique twist, a spring loaded closure is being offered for your consideration. The brooch is in excellent vintage condition.
Castlecliff's ad motto starting in 1945 until their end in 1970 was "The Talked about Jewelry" and almost every piece of it we have picked up makes us realize why! Beautiful designs, components, construction and execution, rank this company among the finest jewelry companies the U.S.A. has ever produced. Prior to Castlecliff the company began life in 1937 as Castlemark and signed its creations briefly by the same name, from 1941 until the name change to Castlecliff in 1945; finding some of these early signed scarce pieces can truly be a FIND! Wonderful designers too; a name like Larry Vrba, had his historical design beginnings there as head designer. Fascinating beautiful and innovative pieces like this one remain in excellent condition after all these years for good reason and their jewelry is always on our hunt list.
Our angelic friend's wings are spring loaded, you pull the wings back to reveal the prongs that attach the brooch to your clothing, purse or whatever you desire! Very ingenious indeed, the design allows the brooch to hug closely to the fabric making it appear as if the angel has just landed. The brooch measures 1 3/8 inches by 1 inch and the prongs functions smoothly. It displays only light age appropriate finish wear, nothing in our opinion that detracts from its stunning appeal only that that affirms its age and authenticity. A timeless addition to your accessories wardrobe which will add a striking stand-alone statement with lasting appeal and value for you and generations to come! (J2761)
