Vintage Castlecliff necklace and earring of Mississippi mud bakelite, glass turquoise and creamy glass pearl elements forms a set with 14mm bakelite ball earrings and 2 strand necklace. This rare set is in excellent vintage condition.
This set is one that makes us believers in their ad slogan, "The Talked about Jewelry"; beautifully realistic glass turquoise and glass pearls mixed exquisitely with marbled Mississippi mud bakelite, now really, who would of thought this combo would be so fantastic, Castlecliff's designers obvious did and BOY were they right! The perfect weight necklace for all seasons and a lovely length too; the shortest length strand is 18 inches and the longest is 20 inches. The box clasp functions properly and is signed, Castlecliff without the copyright logo, indicating production prior to 1955. The earrings are also signed, Castlecliff, on their classic French clip backs. These display desirable mild age appropriate mellowing with light wear to the finish, nothing in my opinion which detracts from their stunning appeal (some might consider small signs of vintage use undesirable), I revel in a find like this as proof that affirms the age and authenticity of the pieces, they will receive a gentle professional hand cleaning, if needed, but no attempt will be made to cover up their vintage previous 50 to 80 beautiful years of life. Your questions about a specific item for sale in my shop are always welcome. Amazing condition every bit the quality of a Haskell, Eugene or De Mario, this one will be a pure joy for wear or display for many years, occasions, seasons, events and ensembles to come. They will take you from the office to lunch and shopping with the girls to that evening night's out on the town; the all round classic set you will be glad you own!
Castlecliff's ad motto starting in 1945 until their end in 1970 was "The Talked about Jewelry" and almost every piece of it we have picked up makes us realize why! Beautiful designs, components, construction and execution, rank this company among the finest jewelry companies the U.S.A. has ever produced. Prior to Castlecliff the company began life in 1937 as Castlemark and signed its creations briefly by the same name, from 1941 until the name change to Castlecliff in 1945; finding some of these early signed scarce pieces can truly be a FIND! Wonderful designers too; a name like Larry Vrba, had his historical design beginnings there as head designer. Fascinating, beautiful and innovative pieces like this one remain in excellent condition after all these years for good reason and their jewelry is always on our hunt list. (J1455)
