Sterling silver master salt spoon with the old mark of the famous Boston retailer / jeweler Shreve, Crump and Low created in the ornate classic 1870's Florentine pattern is especially nice and being offered for your consideration. The spoon is in excellent condition, displaying no damage and only very light marks from use and storage which would polish out if you so desired. The gorgeous ornate Florentine pattern is naturally accented by dramatic natural oxidation, its patent was assigned to John R. Wendt and Co. in 1870 and may have likely been made for Shreve, Crump and Low by them, as this was a common practice of the time. The spoon bears the, Sterling, hallmark and is marked, Patent, as well as, with the early initial marks, S. C. and L., of Shreve, Crump and Low. The spoon measures 3 5/8 inches or 9.2 cm long and 22 mm across the bowl and has no monograms. It weighs 9.69 grams or 0.34 oz / 0.31 oz troy. A very fine item for use or display in any collection or on table! (G124)
