Weidlich Sterling's classic Art Deco baby spoon in the Jenny Lind pattern without monograms is being offered for your consideration. This pattern was designed in 1938 by Alfred J. Flander and is in excellent vintage estate condition, ready to be monogrammed or left as is, for you to decide.
Every baby should be "born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth" so to speak. We in a day of anti-bacterial everything, forget that silver is the original germ fighter and why our flatware and surgical instruments were original made with it....do you remember? Of course it is beautiful, not the answer; silver is germicidal. It does not just resist the growth of bacteria, viruses etc., in fact it actually kills them, just by being what it is, silver! Our ancestors may not have understood the science or that bacteria, viruses etc., cannot exist on silver’s molecular structure, it actual destroys bacteria, viruses etc., but they knew it worked!
This beautiful spoon measures 2 3/4 inches long has a nice loop for the person feeding the baby to slip their finger through for its control. This loop also works well for the older baby / toddler to grasp as they learn to feed themselves! Another manufactures ad read: "To the little tot learning to eat it is practically indispensable." Nothing has ever been found which the chubby fist can grasp so conveniently or which carries the food so safely." It weighs 0.48 oz Troy or 14.8 grams. It is hallmarked, Sterling, and also bears Weidlich's owl mark. This displays only very light age appropriate wear to the finish and no monogram, nothing that detracts from its stunning appeal only that that affirms its age and authenticity. A wonderful standalone baby shower gift, christening gift, great addition to a collection or perhaps finishes the accessories to Grandmother's flatware set! (G118)
