Coro's famous Bill & Coo with family brooch and earring set are being offered for your consideration; these are the pink rhinestone bellied, blue eyed ones ( so cute! ) each carrying their own separate patent from 1948. So hard to find the set! We love Coro's bird figurals here and have always loved collecting them, occasionally our collection multiplies out of control and our clients reap the benefit. A separate patent was given for the earrings and for the brooch; we mention this because it is unusual, normally the patent design states or similar article and this would have been sufficient to include all other articles of jewelry produced from it. The brooches design patent 151147 was issued to Adolph Katz on Sept. 28, 1948 and the earrings on the same day design patent 151148.
The brooch measures 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches and the gold plating is in excellent condition; although difficult to read due to thick plating on the back it signed, Coro, on the back of Bill and, Coro Pat. Des., on the back Coo. The earrings measure 1 inch by slightly more than 1 inch and the plating too is in excellent condition with all the rhinestones in place. Both are signed, Coro in script, on the screw back knobs. All the mechanisms are in proper working condition. This series of figurals had cold enameling on the leaves and flower petals only; the earrings retain most of theirs and brooch retains most of its on the leaves and has lost most on the petals, especially the out side ones next to Bill, that side have would received the most of the handling. These display desirable age appropriate mellowing with light wear to the finish, nothing in my opinion which detracts from their stunning appeal (some might consider small signs of vintage use undesirable), I revel in a find like this as proof that affirms the age and authenticity of the piece or pieces, they will receive a gentle professional cleaning, if needed, but no attempt will be made to cover up their vintage previous 50 to 80 beautiful years of life. Your questions about a specific item for sale in my shop are always welcome. A magnificent find for your treasure chest of collectable jewelry and a fabulous find to be past down to future generations! Enjoy! (G112)
