McClelland Barclay's rare yellow crystal, citrine stone earrings with a stunning yellow gold washed ( gold over sterling silver ) setting are being offered for your consideration. These beautiful earrings are in excellent vintage condition.
McClelland Barclay ( born 1891, died serving his country during WWII in 1943 ) was an extremely talented painter, sculptor and illustrator who designed gorgeous jewelry produced by the famous Rice - Warner for only a very short 6 year period from 1938 - 1943. It is all of exceptional quality and scarce in the market place today due to its limited production. His signature was, McClelland Barclay, done in a distinctive font either stamped or in an elongated cartouche with rounded edges soldered onto the back of the piece; it was common on small items to cut the long cartouches and use either the first or last name portions to mark pieces of jewelry; usually when cut a couple letters of either partial name were included with the 'whole name'. Most all of his earrings were screw-backs, the standard of the time period, with only a few clip backs produced. All of his jewelry is highly collectable, commanding and retaining premiums.
These are magnificent and could easily pass for the real thing; the finish is marvelous and very shiny. The faceted non-foil backed yellow stone, resembles the honey color citrine. For you McClelland collectors these are the prized rare spring loaded clip back earrings. The mechanisms function properly and the earrings are quite comfortable to wear, in my opinion. They measure 1 1/4 inches by 7/8 inch, as far as, can be determined the earrings are in all originally condition. These display desirable age appropriate light wear to the finish, nothing in our opinion that detracts from their stunning appeal only that that affirms their age and authenticity. A timeless addition to your accessories wardrobe which will add a striking stand-alone statement with lasting appeal! (G030)
