Larry Vrba designed beautiful Castlecliff Mayan warrior necklace is being offered for your consideration. The necklace is in excellent vintage condition. ( If you ever have the chance to hear Larry speak, and tell the story of how he discovered these wonderful figures for this famous line of jewelry don't miss it, he is a wonderful speaker, as well as, jewelry designer... the figures are Mayan in origin and are from his time as head designer at CastleCliff. )
Castlecliff's ad motto starting in 1945 until their end in 1970 was "The Talked about Jewelry" and almost every piece of their jewelry we have picked up makes us realize why. The company began life in 1937 as Castlemark and signed its creations briefly by the same name from 1941 until the name change to Castlecliff in 1945; finding some of those early scarce signed pieces can truly be a FIND! Their beautiful designs, use of fine components, excellent construction and execution; rank them among the finest jewelry companies the U.S.A. has ever produced. Wonderful designers too; a name many of you will recognize, like Larry Vrba, had his historical design beginnings there as head designer. Fascinating, beautiful and innovative pieces like this one remain in excellent condition after all these years and they are always on our hunt list.
The pendant is signed on the back in a rectangular cartouche, Castlecliff; the chain portion has a simple properly functioning spring ring closure and the necklace measures 18 inches long with an additional 4 1/2 inch long by 3 inch wide pendant drop ( including the dangles ). This displays only desirable age appropriate mellowing and light wear on the finish ( most noticeable on the beads wiring which have darkened in areas, no corrosion ) nothing that detracts from its stunning appeal only that that affirms its age and authenticity. A fabulous addition to any wardrobe accessories collection for wear or display with your finest! (G023b)
