Miriam Haskell's 1950's 5-strand necklace of classic champagne glass pearls and gilded brass Haskell twist chain is being offered for your consideration. This beautiful Haskell necklace is in very good to excellent vintage condition.
Miriam Haskell Jewelry is not only beautiful, classic, stylish and distinctive it is one of the most recognizable designer styles found though out the decades since the 1920's. These are just a few of the reasons her jewelry retains, as well as, continues to increase in value and is also so very collectible. She did not even sign her jewelry until around 1947 / 48, when after WWII, copies of her work had became prevalent; forcing the change to signed pieces. Great designers; Robert Clark, Peter Raines, Larry Vrba and Millie Petronzio have though out those years managed to carry on the classic style first developed by Ms. Haskell in collaboration with the infamous Frank Hess, while adding their own subtle and distinctive touches and flare. If it is not obvious, we are fans!
There are 3 strands in this original Haskell necklace of 10 by 5.5mm football / blimp shaped champagne glass pearls with tiny ( most of them now darkened ) faceted brass spacers between every other glass pearl and 2 strands of mellowing gilded brass twisted rope chain. Each end of the 5 strands attaches to a filigree connector with a glass pearl flower atop it and each connector attaches to a signed box clasp with another glass pearl flower atop it. The box clasp functions properly and holds securely. The filigree connectors too are in tones of wonderful warm mellowing gilded brass and this assemblage of box clasp and connectors makes up a very beautiful, large and impressive 'clasp' which lays and shows beautifully on the back of your neck. The shortest strand of the necklace measures 17 1/2 inches.
The pearls are in excellent condition and are very luminescent; they display only rub wear at the ends, where they touch the next glass pearl or brass spacer and the occasional small nick or small scuff; no peeling, nothing in our opinion that detracts from the necklace's stunning appeal only that that affirms its age and authenticity. This gorgeous necklace is over 50 years old and is not for the person looking for a bright and shiny gold-tone metal finish...if you, like us ( and many other collectors of quality Haskell ), love vintage Haskell for the desirable age appropriate mellowing, warm to dark-tones gilded 'Russian' gold plated brass presents as it ages, then this necklace is the one you have been waiting for to add to your Haskell 'favorites' collection!.... Très Chic ! (BJ014-N608)
