De Mario’s large climber earrings with creamy baroque glass pearls, prong set clear white rhinestones and gilded brass filigree are being offered for your consideration. The earrings are in amazing vintage condition and rival anything created by Haskell!
Robert De Mario, the designer of this pair of fabulous earrings is referred to as a disciple of Miriam Haskell in many reference books and although Haskell Jewelry denies that he ever worked for them, her influence on his construction & design is undeniable. DeMario Jewelry (1945 – 1960) has never been plentiful in the market place and it is becoming more & more difficult to find pieces by this magnificent designer in good condition; it is always a coveted find for the collector and lover of fine quality costume jewelry alike!
These earrings seductively hug the outline of your ear while climbing its curve and they are large, measuring almost 2 inches ( 1 7/8 inches long ) not including the curve! Having a graceful curve allows them to 'hug' or lay against the outline of your ear, thus the name climbers and if straightened they would of course be longer than their length appears. Both clip backs function properly and are signed, DeMario N.Y., without the copyright logo indicating production prior to 1955. Finish wear in some of the unseen underside areas to brass is noted; they do not display corrosion only a darker patina in these areas, obviously well cared through out their life. A gorgeous, classic and striking stand-alone addition to any collection; the perfect complement for so many occasions, seasons, events and ensembles not to mention pure WOW wearable art! Enjoy!
