Presented is a very nice turn of the century vanity set that includes a brush, mirror, buffer, clothes brush, file, fingernail implement, shoe horn, vanity jar, and scissors. Not sure the scissors match the set, but it came with it. Three pieces are marked STERLING, the mirror, brush and buffer. The jar is etched and in excellent condition. Handles are hollow.
We think the portraits presented on the 3 pieces are hand painted, but are not sure. It was suggested by the jeweler who helped us evaluate. The set belonged to a distant relative who was a prominent member of the society of Stockton, California at the turn of the century.
All pieces are in good condition. One picture is quite faded, the other two are good. There are a few dents in handles here and there, but overall all pieces are in good antique condition.
I can present more pictures and information for the asking. Just let me know if you want more information.
