This is a sweet little vintage gnome (elf) paper doll that advertises Beecham's Pills. This guy comes from the early 19th century. He measures about 5" tall. He is actually 2 pieces with the hands and head piece being separate and inserted through the top of the body. There is not only advertising on the back of his clothing, but inside the folded body, too. It folds at the shoulder. The color is still beautiful.
Beecham pills were meant to relieve all kinds of conditions: biliousness, sick headache, bilious headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, bad taste in the mouth and much more! But, it was basically for digestive problems.
He is in very good condition. "Papa" is written in pencil on the shoulder.
