Presented is a very popular santon from Provence by well known artist Claude Carbonel. It is a sitting lace maker/seller. The figure has a gold tag identifying her and her maker on her yellow checked apron. She sits on a wood bench and holds in her hands some lace and a basket. She is wearing a lovely printed French blue and yellow skirt that has been nicely finished. She has a blue bodice with a printed shall around her shoulders. There is also white undies and white cap.
She is sitting about 7" tall.
I have noticed that all these clay santons have such pleasant faces with a just a hint of a smile. Such a nice piece to add to a collection, eclectic or otherwise.
