This delightful pair of all bisque dolls from Germany were made into Christmas ornaments or hanging pincushions back in the early 1900's. Each is a complete doll measuring 4" tall with jointed arms and legs. They have molded, painted hair, painted features, white ribbed socks and blue painted shoes. Turning these little dolls into ornaments or pincushions was a popular ladies' craft back then. I am sure they probably have markings but there is no way to state what without compromising them. I purchased them as Christmas ornaments. Each doll was wrapped in cotton batting and then covered with ivory silk. Blue silk ribbon bows were added for accents along with a hanging ribbon. Both dolls are in very nice condition with no noticeable damage. They have light soil from age and their faces could use a gentle cleaning. The silk is splitting in the front but it isn't crumbling. They are an attractive pair and can be displayed with larger bisque dolls holding them, as ornaments on a tree, or pincushions among your antique sewing items.
