Delightful pair of vintage, primitive cloth wooly sheep or lambs. Handmade and probably one-of-a-kind animals. Their actual age is unknown but believed to be 1930-40s. Found in an old farmhouse. Each is made of a heavy flannel type cloth with applied wool coats stitched in place, and painted accents. Their eyes appear to be some sort of glass headed pins backed by fabric. One has black glass pin eyes while the other has white glass head pins that have been painted black. One is just slightly larger then the other. The first one measures approximately 7 1/2 inches high and 9 inches long from nose to tail. The second one measures 8 inches high and 9 inches from nose to tail. They are firmly stuffed with wires in their legs which enable them to stand with ease.
Surely they were someone's beloved toys. Both show signs of wear and prior play. Their wooly coats are soiled and gray from years of storage which I tried to capture in the photos. Leaving any cleaning to their new owner. Painted accents show wear. The fabric of the smaller sheep isn't as fuzzy as the other one. It also has a wire on one of the back legs coming through its foot. The other one had an opened back leg seam which I mended. Neither has any bad or unusual odors or smells.
They are a lovely pair that would make a delightful addition to any collection.
